Kanawha State Forest, Charleston, WV

Located just south of Charleston, WV, this 9,300-acre forest is noted among naturalists for its diverse wildflower and bird populations. Popular picnic areas, hiking and biking trails, swimming pool and playground attract families during the summer season. The fully equipped campground is one of the few in the Charleston area.

Battle Run Campground, Summersville, WV

Located south of Summersville, WV, on the shore of the largest lake in central WV. Superb water quality and sheer sandstone cliffs make Summersville Lake a unique place to visit. Technical rock climbing and white water rafting are available year round nearby, with white water releases below the dam on the world class Gauley River in September and October. Bring your own motorboat, sea kayak, or canoe or rent a pontoon boat at the Summersville Marina. The campground offers 117 sites, 110 with electric hookups.
